In the two stories ‘two kinds’ and ‘the white umbrella’ people put expectation on others that they can’t reach. The mom in ‘two kinds’ puts an extreme expectation on her daughter to be famous. In ‘the white umbrella’ the daughter puts an expectation on her mom not to work. Amy doesn’t want to be famous but her mom makes her play piano. Mona doesn’t want her mom to work.
The mom puts an expectation on Amy would be a famous piano player. She doesn’t want to be a famous she just wants to play even if she is not good. Her mom puts an expectation on Amy that is ‘of course you can be a prodigy too’ my mom told me when I was nine.’ That is how the mom puts an expectation on Amy.
The daughter in ‘the white umbrella’ puts an expectation on her mother not to work. She makes an excuse for getting wet on the way to piano class so she won’t say that her mom works. Mona doesn’t like her mom working ‘but why shouldn’t I? She argued lots of people mother work.’ That is how Mona puts an expectation on her mom.
They are both having expectation that they can’t reach put on them. Amy makes can’t be a famous how hard she tries. Mona’s mom has to work so they can live in that way they live. That is how they are being put an expectation on them that they can’t reach.
That is how they are being put an expectation on them that they can’t reach. Mona on her mom to stop working. That is how the two stories put an expectation on other people that they cant reach. Know matter how hard they trie.
